Frank
A zine dedicated entirely to hot dogs, Frank was a passion project of mine. A true staple of American culture, the hot dog invokes elements of childhood nostalgia that carry through to important aspects of adulthood. Whether it's delving into baseball, the traditional American past-time, or just a simple grill-out to bring families and friends together, the hot dog is a vehicle for bringing communities together. I used this aspect of community to develop original copy and illustrations for this 24-page long publication. A simple combination of bun, sausage, and condiments, the hot dog is not pretentious and thus can be experienced at many levels of complexity and through many different cultures. I explore the wide variety of dogs we can find throughout our culture and place the emphasis on the fun-natured illustrations and type that I associate with “hot dog culture.
